Exemption Exam for the Course ‘Principles of Atatürk and History of the Revolution I-II’
All departments in all faculties affiliated with our university are required to offer the courses ‘Principles of Atatürk and History of the Revolution I-II’ as compulsory courses. An exemption exam will be held on Friday, 26 September 2025, at 10:00 AM for students admitted in 2025 who wish to be exempted from these courses. Students who achieve a sufficient score in the exam will be exempt from taking these courses. The exam will be graded on a scale of 100 points. Students who achieve a score of CC 60 (sixty) or above in the exam will be exempt from the Atatürk Principles and History of the Revolution I-II courses. The score obtained by students will replace the grade for the exempted course and will be included in the graduation grade point average. The score obtained in the exam will also be valid for the course that students are required to take. Students who score below 60 in the same exam and are not exempt from the Atatürk Principles and Revolution History I-II courses are required to take these courses.
The exam covers the following topics: factors affecting the Turkish Revolution, the general situation of the Ottoman Empire in the 19th and 20th centuries (reforms, intellectual movements, the Tripoli War, the Balkan Wars), World War I (causes, outbreak, course of events, the Ottoman Empire's entry into the war, fronts, significant developments during the war, the end of the war, treaties signed after the war), The Armistice of Mudros and its consequences, the occupation of Izmir, societies, the preparation process for the War of Independence (Mustafa Kemal's arrival in Samsun, the period of decrees and congresses), the proclamation of the National Pact, the opening of the First Grand National Assembly, the uprisings against the Grand National Assembly, the Treaty of Sèvres, the process of the War of Independence (Establishment of the regular army, fronts and battles fought on these fronts, Eastern Front, Armenian issue and the Deportation Law, İnönü Battles, Battle of Sakarya, Great Offensive, London Conference, Teşkilat-ı Esasiye, Tekalif-i Milliye Orders...), Mudanya Armistice and the Treaty of Lausanne will be covered.
Taking the exam is not mandatory; students who wish to do so should apply to the Dean's Office of our Faculty with the attached application form.

Exam Date: Friday, 26 September 2025
Time: 10:00
Location: Each student will take the exam at the campus where their faculty or vocational school is located.
