Department Introduction
The International Relations Department was established in 2009 within the body of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Balıkesir University, and had its first graduates in 2013. The department was included in Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, which was established with the Law No. 6640 published in the Official Gazette dated 23 April 2015 and numbered 29335. The department has a young and dynamic staff who can guide students in all areas of the International Relations discipline and specialize in their own fields. The staff of the department has two associate professors, four doctor lecturers, and five research assistants.
Educational and academic activities in the international relations department, which is given an education at formal and secondary education levels, are carried out within the following departments:
• European Union Politics and International Relations
• International Politics Department
• Department of Political History
• Department of States Law 
Although it is not compulsory, it is possible for every student to benefit from the preparation class opportunity that gives English education. There is also an International Relations graduate program in the department.
Aims and Objectives of the Department
The aim of the International Relations department is to enable its graduates to take an active role in the academic world and international institutions with comprehensive education about countries and global dynamics, with advanced problem-solving ability, conceptual and numerical analysis skills.
In this context, students can follow new methods of accessing and producing information, gain awareness of the necessity of lifelong learning, have professional, ethical, and social responsibility, awareness, have the ability to communicate effectively, have knowledge of the foreign language, public and private sector. It is aimed to acquire skills to enrich their capacity to develop cooperation and support areas with community organizations.
Program Qualifications
The program competencies that the International Relations Department offers to its students at the end of their undergraduate education are listed below:
• Evaluation, analysis, and interpretation of current international relations
• Acquisition of basic theoretical knowledge in the field of international relations
• To be able to use information and communication technologies and computer software and hardware knowledge required by the field
• Understanding local, regional, national and international developments related to the field
• Gaining analytical thinking and writing skills and teamwork skills
• To be able to evaluate the current problems occurring in the international arena by interpreting them in a scientific framework with the help of various information and perspectives.
• To have foreign language knowledge at a level to understand the subjects related to the field of International Relations.
Working Opportunities
Graduates from the Department of International Relations can work in public and diplomacy, national and international private companies, non-governmental organizations, and educational research institutions. In addition to national institutions and organizations, especially the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it can have employment opportunities at international organizations such as the United Nations, World Trade Organization, think tanks, and universities.
