Conference on “The Social Security System and the Importance of Social Security” Held

The conference titled “The Social Security System and the Importance of Social Security,” organized by the Department of Labour Economics and Industrial Relations within the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University, was held on 12 May 2026 at the Prof. Dr. Fuat Sezgin Conference Hall.

The guest speaker of the event, Şeref Karaca, provided comprehensive information on the historical development, functioning, and significance of the social security system in working life. During the conference, emphasis was also placed on the role of social security in protecting individuals’ living standards, the importance of registered employment, and the value of social security awareness for society.

The event attracted significant interest from students, and current developments in social security practices as well as evaluations regarding problems encountered in working life were discussed. The program concluded with a question-and-answer session, followed by a presentation of appreciation and a group photograph.

The conference was considered productive and successful in terms of increasing students’ awareness and understanding of social policy and social security issues.
