Our Faculty and Department Orientation received top marks from our students

The Department of Labor Economics and Industrial Relations at Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, organized an extensive Orientation Program for newly enrolled students in the 2025–2026 Academic Year.
The event took place on September 24, 2025, between 11:15 and 13:30, in Room F306, Block F of the Faculty building.


🔹 Purpose and Content of the Program

The main purpose of the orientation program was to help new students adapt to university life by providing comprehensive information about the university, the faculty, and the department, as well as introducing academic and administrative processes and social opportunities.

The program began with an opening speech by Prof. Dr. Kemal YILDIZ, Head of the Department.
Following the opening, faculty members and research assistants introduced the department’s academic structure, course registration procedures, advising system, quality assurance studies, social activities, and campus regulations.
Particular attention was given to the University Information Management System (UBYS), course registration procedures, and double major/minor (ÇAP/Yandal) and Erasmus programs, which attracted great interest from the students.


🔹 Feedback Survey Results

After the orientation, a Feedback Survey was conducted with the participation of 39 students, most of whom were 19-year-old first-year students.
According to the results, overall student satisfaction was remarkably high, with average ratings ranging between 4.3 and 4.8 on a five-point Likert scale.

The highest-rated statements were:

  • “The program helped me gain information about my department.”

  • “The information presented during the program was clear and understandable.”

  • “I feel ready for university life after attending the program.”

Areas suggested for improvement included providing more detailed information about double major/minor opportunities and ensuring clearer introductions to academic advisors.


🔹 Positive Student Feedback

Students described the orientation as informative, well-organized, and motivating.
They particularly appreciated sessions on career opportunities, introduction of academic staff, and student clubs and social activities.
Most participants commented, “Everything was great and sufficient,” and “It was very useful for adapting to university life.”


🔹 Conclusion and Evaluation

The 2025–2026 Orientation Program successfully helped new students begin their university life in an informed, confident, and motivated manner.
The event strengthened communication between students and faculty members and achieved its primary goal of supporting student adaptation.
Overall findings indicate that the program was highly successful and well-received by the participants.
