Decisions Taken by Our University Senate on the Spring Semester Educational Process Due to Earthquake

 

The effects of the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquake throughout our country, the housing conditions of our citizens and students affected by the earthquake, social conditions and sustainable education processes were evaluated together and it was decided by the Council of Higher Education that it would be appropriate to complete the 2022-2023 Spring Semester through distance education. In order to ensure that they continue in the most effective, efficient and uninterrupted way possible without compromising, limited to the Spring Semester of the 2022-2023 academic year in associate, undergraduate and graduate;

- In the 2022-2023 Spring Semester, education and training in associate, undergraduate, graduate and foreign language preparatory programs will be carried out by distance education method (online, online) over the BANÜ Distance Education System (LMS),
- The courses given by distance education will be recorded and the courses will be offered asynchronously (offline) over the BANÜ Distance Education System (LMS) for students who cannot attend the course within this period,
- Teaching materials (textbook, lecture notes, lecture presentation, lecture video, course book link, lecture note link, lecture presentation link, lecture video link, etc.) for all courses given with the distance education method are provided by the instructors of the BANÜ Distance Education System ( to be uploaded to LMS),
- If the conditions become favorable, evaluation of blended (hybrid) teaching methods with the decisions of the Council of Higher Education after April,
- If the theoretical part of the courses credited as theory and practice (laboratory, workshop, field, etc.) is to be done by distance education method, and the application part of the courses is left after April and distance education continues after April, what will be the way of such applications (in the summer term?) to be completed, postponed to the next period or completed with applied project studies, etc.)

In accordance with the "Framework Regulation for Applied Education in Higher Education", continuing applied education;
a. (+1) or (+2) semester students of the Faculties that implement the (6+2) or (7+1) program,
b. Students who practice Vocational Education in Business in all other programs that provide undergraduate education (See: Regulation Article 12),
c. (+1) term students of Vocational Schools that implement (3+1) or (2+1) programs,
c. Students who practice Vocational Education in Business in all other programs that provide associate degree education (See: Regulation Article 12),
These students are allowed to do their practical training face-to-face in their places,
- The relevant Unit Management Boards are authorized within the scope of the aforementioned regulation on the program and details of the implementation of the practice courses,
- Compulsory internships required for graduation should be fulfilled face to face,
- Special student requests can be made to the relevant units until March 17, 2023,
- Students who request until 17 March 2023 will freeze their registrations in the Spring Semester and this period will not be deducted from the maximum education period of the program,
- Those who can not attend the single course exams for the Fall Semester of the 2022-2023 academic year on and after February 6, 2023, and those who can not attend the proficiency or thesis exam in graduate programs, apply to the relevant units until March 17, 2023 and hold the said exams on a date to be determined by the Unit Administrative Boards,
- To provide the necessary convenience by the relevant Unit Administrative Boards in line with the excuse of the student regarding the applications that cannot be made in time,
- To make separate announcements by our units in accordance with the decisions to be taken by the Council of Higher Education in the forthcoming period regarding the exams to be held in the spring term,
- Announcement of new decisions and practices to be taken within the framework of other measures and conveniences taken by the Higher Education Council and relevant official authorities due to earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş,
- To enable our higher education students to use appropriate physical spaces such as the library and reading room in this process and to be supported by our instructors in the areas they need.
