Our Department Community Organized Prefect Summit
The “ Prefecture Summit” program was organized by the Public Policies and Public Opinion Research Society, which was formed by the students of our department, with the participation of Erdek Prefect Hasan Göç and Susurluk Prefect Muammer Köken as invited speakers.
Our Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Boz, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Serel and Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin Erçakar, Secretary General Cihangir Boz, Head of our Department Prof. Dr. Gökhan Orhan, academic/administrative unit managers and staff, members of the press and our students attended the program held at Prof. Dr. Aziz Sancar Conference Hall.
In the program moderated by Abdülkadir Tezer, Research Assistant of our Department, Hasan Göç, Prefect of Erdek and Muammer Köken, Prefect of Susurluk, talked about many topics such as how they prepared for the prefect exams and their motivation, what qualities a prefect should have in the face of multiple responsibilities and the difficulties of the prefectship profession.
Mr. Hasan Göç, Prefect of Erdek, stated that first of all, it is necessary to be goal-oriented and to work hard towards that goal. Afterwards, he said that contributing to our country is a debt we owe to ourselves and that sacrifices should be made, and that in Japan and South Korea, which are seen as developed countries today, people return to their countries and contribute to the development of their countries even though they receive education abroad. He stated that the profession of district governor is a profession that requires knowledge in every subject, but it is also a key profession that prepares the ground for offering different options in the career ladder.
Muammer Köken, Prefect of Susurluk, stated that he had aimed to become a district governor from an early age and with this motivation, he prepared for the district governorship exam and became a district governor after taking the exam for the sixth time. He also emphasized that the district governor has responsibilities in many different areas, therefore regular reading is necessary and especially the habit of writing in a diary.
Erdek Prefect Hasan Göç and Susurluk Prefect Muammer Köken also answered questions from our students and our Head of Department Prof. Dr. Gökhan Orhan.
In the program, our Public Policy and Public Opinion Research Society students presented the certificates of appreciation given for the sapling donation they made to TEMA Foundation on behalf of our Prefects. The program ended with a collective souvenir photo after our Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Boz presented certificates of appreciation and gifts to Erdek Prefect Hasan Göç and Susurluk Prefect Muammer Köken.
