Department Introduction

Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University Department of Political Science and Public Administration was first established under Balıkesir University Bandırma Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences and started its education in 2004. Then, the department was included in the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences within Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University, which was established with the Law No. 6640 published in the Official Gazette dated 23 April 2015 and numbered 29335.
Our department which has a 15-year academic background continues its academic activities at Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University, the youngest public university, with the experience of the past and the dynamism of youth.
Academic activities within the Department of Political Science and Public Administration, which provide education in Formal and Secondary Education programs, are carried out in the following departments:
• Administrative Sciences
• Politics and Social Sciences
• Urbanization and Environmental Problems
• Public Policy
• Legal Sciences  
The Department of Political Science and Public Administration which also runs the Master of Political Science and Public Administration with Thesis and Political Science and Public Administration Doctorate Program has an academic staff consisting of 2 professors, 4 assistant professors and 5 research assistants.
Students are expected to have the level of foreign language proficiency to be able to carry out international studies and with the optional foreign language preparation class, they are enabled to become proficient in the field of the foreign language
In addition, with the Double Major Program, our students can complete two different undergraduate programs simultaneously and graduate with two undergraduate diplomas.

Aims and Objectives of the Department
The aim of the department is to train qualified staff who can interpret the political, social, and economic changes at local and international levels for administrative positions in the private and public sectors, and academics for the scientific world. For this purpose, besides main subjects undergraduate program also consists the compulsory and elective courses from other fields such as Economics, Law, International Relations and Public Finance. The undergraduate program aims to educate individuals and scientists who have acquired the scientific knowledge and analysis skills of Political Science and Public Administration disciplines and are required in the field.
The department assumes the responsibility of raising individuals who have the capacity to overcome research and problems, enlighten their environment with high communication skills, and equipped with knowledge. Also, it is aimed at providing education for students to better understand transformations that take place in Turkey and the world, by analyzing the globalization process and the increasingly complex issues to offer solutions for the problems.
Program Qualifications
The program qualifications offered by the Department of Political Science and Public Administration to the students at the end of their undergraduate education are listed below:
• To comprehend and analyze political, economic, and social events at the world and the country.
• To have the skills to improve urban administration and environmental quality by having high equipment and knowledge on urbanization and environmental problems.
• To take part in teamwork and to gain awareness about scientific and ethical principles related to the profession.
• To be able to make regional projections for the future, considering the state of the country and the environment.
• Development of administrative and problem-solving skills through effective and healthy observation in the light of universal values.
• Connecting the events affecting societies with historical facts and intervening the problems with the right information.
