2026-2027 Academic Year Fall Semester Department of Economics Double Major and Minor Applications

The application requirements, schedule, required documents, quotas and relevant regulations regarding Double Major and Minor applications for students of the Department of Economics are provided below.

Double Major Requirements

Attention to Department of Economics Students: Students enrolled in the Department of Economics who meet the announced application requirements may apply to Double Major programs offered by the relevant undergraduate programs of our University.

Semester Requirement: Students of the Department of Economics may apply to the announced undergraduate Double Major diploma programs at the beginning of the 3rd semester at the earliest and the 5th semester at the latest of their primary undergraduate program.

Grade Point Average and Top 20% Requirement: At the time of application, students must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.80 out of 4.00 in the Economics undergraduate program and must rank within the top 20% of their class in their registered undergraduate program.

Course Achievement and Disciplinary Status: Students must have successfully completed all courses included in the Department of Economics curriculum up to the semester of application and must not have received any disciplinary penalty.

Registration Restrictions: A student may not be enrolled in more than one Double Major program at the same time. However, a student may simultaneously enroll in one Double Major program and one Minor program.

Evaluation and Ranking Criteria: If the number of applications exceeds the announced quota, applicants are ranked according to their GPA in the Economics primary program. In the event of equal GPAs, the student's ÖSYM placement score from the year of university admission shall be taken into consideration.

Program Level Compatibility: Since the Department of Economics is an undergraduate program, students may apply only to equivalent-level undergraduate Double Major programs in accordance with the relevant directive.

Minor Requirements

Department of Economics Minor Program Principles: Undergraduate students of the Department of Economics who are admitted to a Minor program are entitled to receive a Minor Certificate in addition to their undergraduate diploma upon successfully completing the courses specified in the Minor curriculum without affecting their graduation requirements in their primary undergraduate program.

Application Semester: Undergraduate students of the Department of Economics may apply to announced Minor programs at the beginning of the 3rd semester at the earliest and the 6th semester at the latest of their primary undergraduate education.

Grade Point Average Requirement: To apply to a Minor program, students must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.80 out of 4.00 in their Economics primary program as of the application date.

Successful Completion of Credit-Bearing Courses: Students may apply to a Minor program only if they have successfully completed all credit-bearing courses taken in the Economics undergraduate program up to the semester of application.

Simultaneous Enrollment Restriction: Students may be enrolled in no more than one Minor program at the same time during their undergraduate education. However, one Double Major program and one Minor program may be pursued simultaneously.

Application Schedule and Location

Application and Document Submission Office: Double Major and Minor applications of Department of Economics students must be submitted in person to the Student Affairs Office of the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences between 14 – 25 September 2026. The application form and an approved transcript must be submitted at the time of application.
