Department of Economics Internship Programme Information

As the Department of Economics, we are aware that practical experience plays a critical role in the professional development of students beyond academic knowledge. Therefore, by supporting the optional internship program, we aim to provide the necessary infrastructure for our students to step into the business world at an early stage and specialize in their fields. Our department supports and encourages all opportunities that contribute to the personal and professional development of our students. The optional internship program will also make a significant contribution to the Department of Economics Educational Objectives and Program Outcomes. The Department of Economics carries out the optional internship practice within the scope of the National Internship Program jointly conducted by Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University, the Career Development Application and Research Center (KAGEM), and the Presidency Human Resources Office. Our Department’s Alumni Relations and Internship Coordination together with BANÜ-KAGEM not only continue to provide guidance and support services to enable Economics students to benefit from the program more effectively and in greater numbers, but also strive to increase the number of institutions where internships can be undertaken.

Below you can find detailed information about the “National Internship Program”, which will allow you, our students, to gain experience on your own initiative and lay solid foundations for your future careers.

National Internship Program: A Gateway to the Future

Modern education goes beyond the classroom, emphasizing that students gain professional competencies and put theoretical knowledge into practice. The National Internship Program—one of Türkiye’s functional, practice-oriented training models supported by the public sector and the business world—enables participants to build their career steps on solid ground. The program aims to accelerate integration into professional life by equipping students with interdisciplinary experience as well as communication and problem-solving skills.

Developed to bridge the gap between academic training and practical experience, this program systematically and structurally supports the transition processes between students’ education and professional lives. Students gain access to internship opportunities in public institutions, private sector organizations, and public-private partnership projects operating in their fields; thus, they directly learn from experienced professionals. This process not only transfers professional knowledge but also lays the groundwork for acquiring personal development and leadership skills.

A Turning Point in Career Planning

The National Internship Program plays a critical role in students’ career planning. By offering interdisciplinary internship opportunities, the program showcases the dynamic working environments of distinguished institutions and accelerates the process of putting theoretical concepts into practice. Internship experiences provided by institutions contribute to the development of essential professional skills such as time management, project execution, teamwork coordination, and adaptability. Moreover, the practical experiences gained during the internship enhance graduates’ profiles in the job market and create value in the eyes of potential employers.

Through the mentoring system offered within the program, guidance provided to students plays a vital role in setting career goals; thus, candidates can better identify their strengths and areas for improvement and make informed decisions about their career choices. Expanding professional networks through relationships established during the internship increases future job opportunities and contributes to long-term career success.

Ease of Application

The National Internship Program stands out with its transparent and straightforward application process. Applications are made via the relevant website and include the careful evaluation of required documents and the selection of candidates based on eligibility criteria. This method both ensures the formation of a qualified talent pool and provides fair and efficient allocation of internship experiences.

An Investment in the Future: Long-Term Effects of Internship Experiences

Internships do not merely provide temporary work experience; they also equip students with lasting skills that are an investment in the future. In the years ahead, the experiences and knowledge gained during internships will guide them in the tasks they encounter in their professional lives. These experiences enable them to climb the career ladder quickly and leave a lasting mark in their sectors. By supporting the country’s young minds, the National Internship Program aims to cultivate the leaders of the future. With this vision, the program targets not only students’ careers but also positive contributions to society and the national economy. Therefore, internship experience is an important step that enables students to contribute both to their own career development and to national progress. Seize the opportunities offered by this unique program: take a step that supports your professional development and enhances your experience and knowledge. The National Internship Program will be one of the most important turning points in your career and will serve as a solid bridge leading you to success.
