Economics Department Student Meetings

The academic advisors of our department organized group orientation and introduction meetings with their assigned classes in both Turkish and English Economics Undergraduate Programs. The events, held between 13–24 October 2025, aimed to bring together students and advisors to enhance interaction, provide academic guidance, and share information about the department’s procedures.

During the meetings, topics such as the academic advising process, double major and minor programs, internship and graduation requirements were discussed in detail. In addition, information was provided on university life, Erasmus+ exchange opportunities, academic ethics, and the overall functioning of the department. Academic advisors also invited students to schedule individual advising sessions to discuss their academic goals and expectations.

In addition, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Armağan TÜRK, the academic advisor of the first-year students in the Turkish Economics Undergraduate Program, implemented a new approach to better understand the students he will advise over the next four years. Dr. TÜRK conducted DiSC and MBTI personality tests with the first-year students to assess their personal traits and professional tendencies. Through the DiSC test, he analyzed characteristics such as determination, teamwork orientation, sociability, and attention to detail. The MBTI test was used to identify students’ interests in various subfields of economics. According to the MBTI results, 58% of students showed interest in analytical, data-oriented, and technical areas (such as econometrics, finance, and project management), while 42% were more inclined toward conceptual, social, and strategic fields (such as economic theory, public finance, and consulting).

As the Department of Economics, we extend our sincere appreciation to the academic advisors of both the Turkish and English Economics Undergraduate Programs for their valuable contributions tu these activities, which not only support students' academic development but also strengthen studen-advisor communication within the department.
